| What are VOCs
and why are they harmful?
VOCs are chemicals that evaporate readily in the air. They
cause dizziness, headaches, eye, nose and throat irritation
and asthma, but some can also cause cancer, provoke longer
term damage to the liver, kidney and nervous system, and stimulate
higher sensitivity to other chemicals. (source: www.healthybuilding.net)
Where are VOCs used in cabinetry?
VOCs are commonly found in the glues and finishes used in the cabinet production
process because they evaporate quickly and speed the curing
and drying process.
Coates Walker Cabinetry uses only low VOC glues and a proprietary
water based finishing system that produces 80% fewer VOCs
than the catalyzed conversion varnish finish typically used
in conventional cabinetry.
